The Peshawar district administration has demolished dozens of illegal shops during an anti-encroachment operation in Garhi Qamar Din along Ring Road.
The operation was carried out jointly with the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA). Teams used heavy machinery to remove structures encroaching on designated road space.
Officials said the campaign aims to restore road boundaries, remove obstructions and improve traffic flow along Ring Road and adjoining areas. The action is part of a wider drive to address commuting difficulties across the city.
Newly appointed Deputy Commissioner Afaq Wazir said the operation would continue until encroachments along Ring Road and nearby areas were completely cleared. He warned that negligence by the departments responsible would not be tolerated.
Wazir also directed officials to prevent illegal structures from being rebuilt after their removal.
The administration urged residents and shopkeepers to cooperate with the campaign and avoid encroaching on roads, footpaths and public passageways.
It said keeping roads free of obstructions and ensuring smoother movement for commuters remained key priorities.
