The number of members of unemployment insurance funds increased by just over 15,000 during the period, the largest growth in a single quarter since the pandemic year of 2020.
"A prolonged recession and high unemployment have led more people to join unemployment insurance funds. Membership has increased by 8,000–9,000 each quarter, but nearly doubled in the last quarter. This indicates that people still see the labor market as uncertain," says Alejandro Firpo, chairman of Sweden's unemployment insurance funds, in a press release.
