Scotland talisman has now scored four times in the space of as many days
Scott McTominay continued his red hot form since returning from heart surgery by scoring a double for the second time in four days as Napoli and Roma shared the points in a six-goal thriller.
The Scotland midfielder bagged a brace in the midweek 4-3 win over Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League and repeated the feat in the Serie A encounter at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Saturday to double his tally for the season.
The 29-year-old, starting only his third match since undergoing a procedure to correct a mild, benign arrhythmia, put Napoli 2-0 in front early in the second half with a diving header which Roma goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini could only palm over the line. It came after Frank Anguissa had put the hosts in front with a 28th minute bicycle kick.

Roma came storming back to level through goals from Matias Soule and Leonardo Balerdi before a McTominay stunner from long-range, drilling a right-foot shot into the bottom corner from 25 yards, put Napoli back in front on 83 minutes.
However, despite the best efforts of the former Manchester United man, Napoli were forced to settle for a point when Balerdi grabbed his second of the match with a minute of normal time remaining to make it 3-3.
Napoli felt Sam Beukema was fouled in the build-up, but the goal survived a VAR check resulting in engraged home boss Max Allegri being sent off from the touchline for dissent.
McTominay’s Scotland teammate Billy Gilmour was an unused substitute for the second match running.
The draw leaves Napoli languishing down in ninth place in Serie A on 11 points while Roma remain unbeatean, moving up to third on 18 points to stay firmly in the title race.
Elsewere, Lewis Ferguson captained Bologna to a 2-0 victory away at Cagliari. The Scotland midfielder completed the full 90 minutes as he helped his side claim their second league win of the season to move up to 13th in the table on eight points.
There was disappointed for Kieron Bowie and Josh Doig, however, as Sassuolo suffered a 2-0 defeat away at Manchester United's midweek Champions League conquerers, Como.
Bowie was restored to the starting line-up after four consecutive substitute appearances and played the full match but was unable to add to his solitary Serie A strike this season which came against Juventus last month. Doig, meanwhile, was dropped to the bench before coming on in the 61st minute.
On Friday night, Che Adams played the full game as Torino claimed a 3-2 win over Monza to move up to seventh in the table. Scotland teammate Nathan Patterson came off the bench for Torino in the second half and scored for the first time in Serie A - although unfortunately it was into the wrong net as his stoppage time own goal set up a nervy finish.
Lennon Miller will hope for some minutes when Udinese host AC Milan on Sunday night.
