Three people who shape policy, capital and industry shared a stage in New Delhi this week with one subject on the table: artificial intelligence.
Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Blackstone President and CEO Jonathan Gray, and Tata Sons Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran appeared at Bloomberg’s New Economy Forum. Their focus was how AI adoption could fundamentally reshape both the way money moves around the world and the balance of geopolitical power.
That is a big claim to make before breakfast. The panel was scheduled for 8:55 a.m. IST.
Who said what, and where
The gathering marked the eighth edition of Bloomberg’s New Economy Forum. It ran from October 13 to 15, 2026, and was the first time India has hosted the event.
This year’s theme was “A World in Play: Defining the New Levers of Power.”
The trio appeared in the plenary session “The End of Predictability” on the morning of October 13. The session examined how leaders are expected to operate when economic uncertainty is amplified by AI’s growing role in global affairs.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also among the confirmed speakers. More than 500 global leaders attended, examining how AI is affecting geopolitics and the movement of capital.
The timing carried extra weight for Bloomberg. The forum coincided with the company’s 30th anniversary in India, giving the event a homecoming quality in a market it has covered for three decades.
Why these three voices matter
Sunak brings the policy view. As prime minister, he hosted the 2023 AI Safety Summit at Bletchley Park, one of the first major government efforts to put AI risk on the international agenda.
Gray brings the capital view. Blackstone is one of the world’s most prominent investment firms, and its leadership tends to be read as a barometer for where large pools of institutional money are heading.
Chandrasekaran brings the industrial view. Tata Sons sits at the top of one of India’s best-known business groups, and Tata is a founding partner of the forum itself.
The research around the event framed Blackstone and Tata Sons as major private-sector contributors to the discussion.
