IMPHAL, Oct 21: BABINA Hospital has achieved National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) accreditation within just two years of its establishment.
The hospital has secured full NABH accreditation, distinguishing its achievement from entry-level certification and marking an important step in strengthening its healthcare standards, said a press release issued by the hospital’s PR and Media Department Assistant Manager Pramod Ningombam.
NABH is a constituent board of the Quality Council of India (QCI) that accredits healthcare institutions against established standards covering patient care, medication management, infection prevention and control, patient rights, staff competence, infrastructure and hospital administration.
Achieving accreditation involves a rigorous assessment of hospital systems and practices. Hospitals must demonstrate the effective implementation of standardised procedures, maintain proper documentation, train staff, conduct internal audits and establish mechanisms for risk management and continuous improvement.
An independent external assessment verifies compliance with prescribed standards, requiring coordinated efforts across departments and sustained management commitment, it said.
Achieving full accreditation at such an early stage reflects the collective efforts of BABINA Hospital’s doctors, nurses, technical and administrative personnel, and management.
For patients, accreditation provides greater assurance that systems are in place to support safe and consistent care, including medication safety, infection control, informed consent and protection of patient rights.
While accreditation cannot guarantee complication-free treatment, it provides a structured framework to minimise avoidable risks and strengthen patient safety, it added.
