Just before 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to the report of an injured and unresponsive woman at a residence in the area of 113 Avenue and 32 Street in northeast Edmonton, police said in a Thursday news release.
Edmonton Fire Rescue Services and emergency crews arrived on scene and attempted life-saving measures on the woman, but she died on scene.
Homicide detectives took over the case, and an autopsy was performed on Thursday and confirmed that Jodie Thomas, 31, died as a result of homicide.

Police are withholding the cause of death at this time for investigative reasons.
Detectives are asking any witnesses or anyone with information or dashcam or doorbell cameras that were active in the area to contact EPS at 780-423-4567.
