KUALA LUMPUR: Terengganu have moved to allay fans' concerns after appearing on FIFA's worldwide player registration ban list, insisting the issue involves legacy debts that are already being settled.
Checks on the world governing body's official registration ban portal revealed that the Turtles are not alone, as several Malaysian clubs also appear on the sanctions list.
Various Kelantan-related entities, listed separately under Kelantan Red Warrior, Kelantan The Real Warriors and Kelantan, make up a substantial portion of the records, with more than a dozen distinct entries.
Other Malaysian sides on the portal include Kedah Darul Aman and Police, both of which appear multiple times, alongside single or repeat listings for KL City, Perak, Gombak, Putrajaya Athletic and Perlis FA.
Following their appearance in the database, Terengganu issued a clarification, stating that the matter was being handled according to the relevant procedures.
"The club has carried out its responsibilities professionally and complied with every international football legal procedure," Terengganu said in a statement on Friday.
"For information, the case involves past claims. The club has taken note of these claims, and periodic payments have already been made."
The management stressed that the matter would not derail its plans for the upcoming campaign, saying it aimed to resolve the issue before the next registration window opens.
"The club remains committed and is well aware of the second registration date, which begins on Jan 5, 2027.
"A resolution to this matter will be handled professionally without affecting the team's and the club's planning this season," Terengganu stated.
Reaffirming its commitment to good corporate governance, the club pledged to keep stakeholders informed of developments.
"Terengganu always acts transparently and professionally, while ensuring that all club matters are resolved according to lawful guidelines.
"The club will share the latest updates on any action regarding this matter."
