As one key member of the New England Patriots' receiving corps made his highly anticipated return, another exited.
Patriots wide receiver Romeo Doubs left the team's game against the New York Jets in the first quarter with a shoulder injury.
He was listed as questionable to return.
Doubs hauled in a 42-yard touchdown from Drake Maye to give the Patriots a 7-3 lead late in the first quarter. After falling to the ground to secure the catch, he raised his fist in celebration, but he was later evaluated for an injury.

Doubs' injury coincides with the return of A.J. Brown, who is playing in his first game since landing on injured reserve with a sprained ankle sustained in the season-opening loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
New England struggled to get Brown involved in the offense early, as his first three targets didn't produce a single catch. Brown appeared to be in good position for a deep connection from Maye in the second quarter when he beat Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner down the sideline, but he was unable to secure a pass that appeared to glance off his fingertips.
