The Kansas City Chiefs are currently 5-0 in the regular season, and heading into Week 7 against the Seattle Seahawks, there are a few issues becoming apparent with the team.
While Kenneth Walker III is dominating, there is an issue with the pass-catchers on this offense. While Travis Kelce is still great and Xavier Worthy has impressed in a bigger role, Rashee Rice is hurt, and Tyquan Thornton is out for the year. They need some help.
ESPN's Bill Barnwell pitched a trade idea that would get Patrick Mahomes and the offense some more offensive firepower, but in an unexpected way. Barnwell's idea would land Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert in KC, which might seem odd with Kelce around, but it actually makes a lot of sense.
Chiefs trade idea lands star Eagles TE to pair with Travis Kelce
"Chiefs get: TE Dallas Goedert. Eagles get: 2027 fifth-round pick," Barnwell proposes. "... K.C. already uses 12 or 13 personnel on nearly 40% of Patrick Mahomes' dropbacks. So, what about adding another receiving tight end to the mix?"
This trade idea, at first glance, wouldn't make much sense. Why spend a valuable mid-round pick on a backup tight end, especially when Noah Gray is already a solid option behind Kelce?
Well, with teams utilizing multiple tight end sets more than ever, including the Chiefs, someone like Goedert would be a whole lot more than just a No. 2 tight end.
He's a great receiver, hauling in 11 touchdown passes a year ago from Jalen Hurts. This season, in just three and a quarter games, he has 17 receptions for 180 yards and two touchdowns.

The 6-foot-5, 256-pound tight end would be a great secondary receiving option in this offense for the Chiefs. He's also a fantastic option down in the red zone as well.
While the Chiefs could try to land a new wide receiver, going after someone like Josh Downs, Brian Thomas Jr., or Chris Godwin, Goedert could provide the pass-catching upside this offense is lacking.
A receiving corps of Kelce, Worthy, Rice, and Goedert, along with Walker at running back and a few other wide receivers with upside, might be good enough to win the Super Bowl.
It's a fascinating trade idea from Barnwell, and while unexpected and unconventional, it is a move that Andy Reid could surely turn into one other teams might try to copy in years to come if it were to work out.
