Amid recent criticism over the offense’s lack of productivity, Jerry Jones wants his head coach to focus on doing what’s necessary to help the Cowboys put more points on the board.
During his Friday appearance on 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM), the Cowboys owner expressed confidence in Brian Schottenheimer, describing him as a specialist on the offensive side of the ball.
Jones said Schottenheimer needs to make the necessary adjustments so opponents have a harder time identifying trends in the Cowboys’ offense.
Here are some highlights of what Jones had to say about his head coach and offensive coordinator.
Question: Jerry, there's been a lot of criticism heading towards Schottenheimer, seeing how the offense has struggled the last couple of weeks. How concerned are you about opponents picking up on his and Dak's tendencies?
Jones:
Jones gave Schottenheimer a vote of confidence and said the head coach is the first to question himself about his performance.
Jones:
Jerry even sounded philosophical during the interview, invoking an ancient saying from Roman philosopher Seneca the Younger as he talked about his head coach.
Jones: “To see a man truly succeed is to see him struggle through adversity. I always liked that one right there.”
Question:
Jones: “That is Seneca. Seneca BC.”
