Myles Garrett is eligible to come off injured reserve at any time after missing the last four games, but he still needs more time to recover from knee surgery. Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay confirmed on Tuesday that Garrett will not return to practice this week, meaning he will not come off IR just yet.
The Rams can open Garrett's 21-day practice window whenever they'd like, but if they do so, he will need to be activated off IR within those three weeks. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network said Tuesday that his understanding is it's a six-week recovery for Garrett, which would put him in line to return in Week 7.
McVay has not yet confirmed when Garrett will be back for Los Angeles, but the team will not rush him back – and understandably so. It's a long season, so the Rams want to make sure he's available down the stretch.

He’s eligible to come off of injured reserve but isn’t ready yet.
Garrett has played just one game this season, and even in that contest, he wasn't 100% healthy. He said as much after the Rams' season opener, admitting it was the worst version of himself that he could've put out there.
A few days after that loss to the 49ers, Garrett underwent knee surgery, which landed him on injured reserve.
In Garrett's place, the Rams have used Byron Young and Josaiah Stewart heavily, with Wesley Bailey and Desjuan Johnson backing them up. They've survived Garrett's absence, but they can't wait to get their prized offseason addition back in the lineup.
