Dunkin', part of Inspire Brands, brought back its Spider Donut on Oct. 14 and introduced a drink built around a new bat character named Berry Battie, the company said.
Both items are available across the U.S. for a limited time. The Spider Donut, which the company also calls "Spidey D," starts with a donut covered in purple frosting and has a Chocolate Glazed MUNCHKINS Donut Hole Treat sitting on top, plus legs made of chocolate icing and eyes piped in vanilla-flavored icing.
The Berry Battie Daydream Refresher pairs oatmilk with flavors of blueberry and berry clementine. It is topped with Purple Marshmallow Cold Foam and candy eyes, the company said.
On Friday, guests who order a Berry Battie Daydream Refresher in any size can receive a Dunkin' Bat Cup Sleeve, a limited-edition item, at no charge until supplies run out, the company said. The sleeve slips onto a Dunkin' cup and adds a pair of plush purple wings. The offer is limited to one sleeve per order at participating locations.
Dunkin' also is selling a Halloween MUNCHKINS Bucket, newly styled in purple and decorated with Dunkin' characters in costume. It is the first Halloween bucket that glows in the dark. Each bucket comes with 50 MUNCHKINS Donut Hole Treats in a random mix, among them a new Halloween variety covered in sprinkles. The company said it will give $2 from each bucket purchased to the Dunkin' Joy in Childhood Foundation. Its frosted donuts and Chocolate Glazed MUNCHKINS also come topped this year with a mix of white, chocolate and purple sprinkles.
The company detailed the Spider Donut merchandise in a press release distributed through Business Wire. At participating restaurants, a Spider Donut Keychain costs $9.99. A Mystery Boo Box costs $8.99 and contains one of four items: a Spider Donut Squish, Pin Set, Acrylic Keychain or Bandana.
Starting at 12 p.m. ET on Oct. 14, a Spidey D Collection of apparel, accessories, collectibles and décor went on sale at DunkinRunsonMerch.com. Prices range from $22 to $100 while supplies last, the company said.
The Spider Donut's return follows a Halloween menu rollout that left it out. Dunkin' launched 12 Halloween-themed drinks on Sept. 30 and dropped the Spider Specialty Donut from the lineup. The chain also teased on Instagram that "a familiar eight-legged friend may return alongside a few special guests."
Purple Marshmallow Cold Foam, which tops the new Berry Battie drink, also was part of that September launch. It topped five of the 12 drinks introduced then.
Dunkin' was founded in 1950 and operates more than 14,200 restaurants in nearly 40 global markets, the company said.
