Apple is making a fresh attempt to strengthen its position in the smart home market with HomeView, a new display designed to bring home controls, entertainment and voice assistance together. Announced on October 13, 2026, the device marks Apple's entry into a category already served by Amazon's Echo Show and Google's Nest Hub.
Priced at USD 299 in the US, HomeView combines a touchscreen, speaker system and Siri AI into a single household hub. It is designed for people who want to manage connected devices, make video calls and access personal information without reaching for their phones.
A Smart Display Designed for Everyday Use
This device is equipped with a 7-inch Liquid Retina display and may be placed either on a table top or wall-mounted. In addition, the screen changes its brightness depending on the ambient light in the room, and the device itself is designed in such a way that it will look good in kitchens, bedrooms, and entry areas.
Using the HomeView, users can listen to music, view photos, make FaceTime calls, and control various smart accessories in their homes. In addition, the company has improved recognition technology for up to six faces, which allows displaying personal content, calendar appointments, reminders, and many more.
This shared-but-personal approach is central to Apple's pitch. Instead of functioning solely as a smart speaker with a screen, HomeView is intended to become a convenient control point for the entire household.

Siri AI and Smart Home Controls Take Centre Stage
The device features an upgraded version of Siri, powered by Apple Intelligence. When paired with a compatible Apple device, it can draw on personal context to provide more relevant responses and assistance.
This HomeView allows the control of connected lights, thermostats, locks, and blinds using voice commands or touch controls. It can also show live streams from up to nine compatible security cameras, providing an easy way of viewing what happens around your house.
Privacy and security are the key aspects of this device that Apple is focusing on in order to attract customers to it. Yet, the usability of this gadget depends on compatible accessories and will be limited for those who use other smart home ecosystems.

Price, Availability and Apple's Bigger Strategy
Preorders for HomeView opened on October 13, with availability scheduled to begin November 13 in selected markets, including the US, UK, India, Canada and Australia. The standard and wall-mounted versions start at USD 299 in the US. The launch represents a significant move for Apple, which has struggled to gain the same traction in smart homes as Amazon and Google.
