LibreSSL 4.4 released on Thursday as the newest release of this decade-old OpenSSL fork maintained by OpenBSD developers.
Given the recent mess over eMudhra Limited having extremely weak private keys to eight of their intermediate certificates, LibreSSL has removed the eMudhra emSign ECC Root CA - G3. In place some uncompromised intermediate certificates were added for interoperability purposes.
On the performance side, LibreSSL 4.4 delivers better SHA-3 performance by using an unrolled and interleaved algorithm.
LibreSSL 4.4 also has a number of bug fixes, portability improvements, a number of Microsoft Windows fixes, removal of old code, and many bug fixes.
