HBO has officially confirmed Nicolas Cage will headline True Detective Season 5, with Antonio Banderas joining him.
Production is set to begin in 2027, the network announced on social media, "Cage. Banderas. Season 5 of #TrueDetective starts production in 2027."
As per Variety, Cage will play Henry Logan and Banderas will play Rai García. The new season will be set in Jamaica Bay, New York. Plot and character details are still under wraps.
Cage had teased the casting last week at New York Comic Con, saying, "My agent's out there somewhere listening. That's okay that I'm the first to announce that, right?"
The season marks Cage's second TV outing after Spider-Noir on Prime Video earlier this year.
Issa Lopez, who created and directed Season 4, Night Country, returns as writer, director and showrunner.
Created by Nic Pizzolatto, True Detective debuted in 2014 with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
