GEORGE TOWN: Schools in Johor, Melaka and Negri Sembilan will be closed tomorrow due to the haze, with selected districts in four other states also affected.
Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek said the closures would also cover Hulu Langat and Sepang in Selangor; Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin in Pahang; Tawau in Sabah; and Serian, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu in Sarawak.
"Schools in other states and districts will operate as usual," she said in a Facebook post.
During the closure, Fadhlina said Home-Based Teaching and Learning would be implemented, while teachers and members of the support staff would be allowed to work from home.
The announcement comes amid the ongoing haze situation, with the affected schools required to switch to remote learning for the day.
Earlier today, it was reported that 19 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy API readings as of 8am, with Pasir Gudang in Johor recording the highest reading at 180.
Johor was the worst-affected state, with eight areas recording unhealthy readings, according to the Department of Environment's (DoE) Air Pollutant Index Management System.
