A man identified as Diganta allegedly went on a rampage with a blood-stained spade in Guwahati’s Rukminigaon and Down Town areas on Monday, damaging hotel property before Dispur police detained him and took him to a hospital.

Guwahati: Armed with a blood-stained spade, a man ran amok in Guwahati’s Rukminigaon and Down Town localities on Monday, creating a scary scene before storming into a high-end hotel, where he caused damage to property.
The man, who was caught on video by frightened onlookers, smashed furniture and glass inside the hotel before being restrained and ultimately taken into custody by Dispur police. The police then admitted him to a nearby hospital, according to reports.

The vandal, identified as Diganta, went on a rampage at several places in the two localities with the spade in his hand. After entering the hotel, he vandalised furniture and glassware, sending several customers fleeing in fear. Bloodstains were still visible at several spots inside the hotel after the incident.

Locals said they had earlier seen the man roaming the highway in an inebriated state. A team of Dispur police took him into custody after the incident and got him admitted to a nearby hospital.
