President Bola Tinubu has accused opposition parties of offering Nigerians hate instead of solutions to the country’s challenges, urging voters to reject what he described as their divisive campaign messages.
Tinubu spoke Saturday at the APC presidential campaign flag-off rally in Kaduna, where he defended his administration’s efforts to tackle hunger and poverty and sought public support for a second term.
The President, who challenged opposition parties over their criticism of his administration, said they were angry because they could not offer Nigerians a better alternative.
“Our opponents are angry because they are playing you. They have nothing to offer you but hate. We have prosperity, consistency, growth, recovery, and opportunity. I assure you,” Tinubu said.
He also dismissed opposition criticisms of hunger and poverty, arguing that those now raising the issues were responsible for creating the problems his administration was trying to address.
“I hear my opponent talking about hunger, poverty. Who created it? They did. They created hunger. They created poverty. We are trying to eradicate it,” he said.
Tinubu urged Nigerians not to be misled by opposition campaign messages, calling on his supporters to remain vigilant as the country approaches the next general election.
“Be careful. Watch them. Don’t let them lie to you,” he told the crowd.
The President also appealed to voters to support the APC at all levels, including the presidency, governorships, the National Assembly and state Houses of Assembly, saying his administration was committed to prosperity and progress.
He thanked the people of Kaduna for turning out in large numbers for the rally and reiterated his promise of a better future under his leadership.
