The New York Knicks have raised their championship banner, received their rings and begun the defense of their title on Tuesday night. Jalen Brunson took to the court with a special pair of gold Nike Kobe 6 Protros that won’t release to the public, and for general consumption another Nike Kobe sneaker has been made available only in New York City.
The Jalen Brunson x Nike Kobe 3 Low Protro arrives in Knicks orange and is only on sale in New York City Foot Locker stores. Orange graces the sneaker almost entirely uninterrupted through the upper to the translucent midsole, but blue is used for the tongue’s Kobe Sheath logo and the heel Swoosh. It’s a simple treatment, but one Knicks fans should be quite pleased with.
Brunson is known devotee to the Nike Kobe line, with this now being the third player-exclusive colorway of his to launch on one of the models. A State of Liberty-themed Kobe 6 Protro kicked things off last year, followed around the NBA Finals by a Kobe 5 Protro using a similar shade of green while adding blue and orange.
Nike has also hooked up Brunson with a number of other PES that haven’t gone on sale to the public, including a “Star Wars”-inspired pair last season. When asked about getting his own signature shoe during the summer, the cemented Knicks legend said he’d “rather have an unlimited supply of Kobes.”
After introducing the Protro remastering of the Kobe 3 last year, Nike added the first-ever low-top version of the shoe during this year’s 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend. Next year is also expected to bring the launch of the Nike Kobe 7 Protro, as well as two entirely new models in the Kobe NXT 1.0 and Kobe NXT Prototype.
The Jalen Brunson x Nike Kobe 3 Low Protro is available now through Foot Locker’s New York City locations at Times Square, 34th Street, 125th Street, Fulton Street, Queens Center Mall and Fordham Road. Pricing is set at $200, and a wider release could come later.
