Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda will meet with Citi head Grant Carson on Wednesday as the largest US bank plans to open an office in the Baltic states.
Bloomberg reported in June that Citigroup planned to open an office in the region, with Lithuania as the most likely location.
Carson told Bloomberg at the time that the decision reflected growing interest from international financial institutions in the Baltic region amid rising defence investments.
The new office would serve as a regional hub, catering to clients not only in Lithuania but across the European Union.
The bank intends to focus on financial markets, government financing, bonds and central bank liquidity management.
