Angel Reese bounced back in spectacular fashion during Game 2 of the WNBA Finals, and her fans are out on social media questioning her critics.
After Game 1 of the WNBA Finals which the Atlanta Dream lost, a lot of fans were questioning Angel Reese. The 24-year-old found herself shut down in the second half of that loss, with the Golden State Valkyries earning many plaudits for their defence.
Well, she showed what makes her a superstar in Game 2. Reese responded in style during the Dream’s 79-65 victory even as her team tied up the series. The LSU alum is no stranger to winning a championship, but now it seems she’s coming for the Finals MVP too.
Angel Reese becomes youngest player in WNBA history with a 30-point, 15-rebound game
Reese ended the game with 30 points and 16 rebounds. She also had two blocks, including one that came accompanied with some iconic trash talk. Doing this in just her first-ever playoff run and her first-ever WNBA Finals is extremely awe-inspiring.
In the process, Reese also set some records. She became just the third player in WNBA Finals history to record at least 30 points and 15 rebounds in a game. Additionally, she became the youngest player in overall playoff history to reach this landmark as well. Her fans were out in force after this display.
“Setting records in the WNBA Finals before Caitlin even makes it past the first round…” one fan commented. “Honestly 30 and 16 in a finals game is just disrespectful and I love that for her,” said another fan. “All of you who were talking smack after Game 1, TALK NOW!” a third comment read.
“She’s basically sealed FMVP if the Dream can somehow win this series now,” a fourth fan observed. “Imposed her will. A certain stan club about to be REAL QUIET. The Dream should be up 2-0 right now,” a fifth fan claimed. “What are they gonna say now?” asked a sixth fan.
Reese’s performance deserves all the love and then some. The greatest players are defined by how they respond to adversity. She showed in Game 2 that her way of dealing with criticism is by going out and setting records in the next game. Angel has the chance to do something truly historic this year.
