The 27-year-old, who has not been named at this stage, appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday, October 20, when he was ordered to go to a hospital for a mental health assessment.
He is yet to enter pleas to charges of kidnapping a person who suffered grievous bodily harm at the time and contravening a court order.
The alleged victim was at the accused man's house in Dunlop on Saturday, October 10, when the 27-year-old allegedly became violent while seeking cash he claimed was stolen from him.
Police allege the 27-year-old refused to let the man leave and subjected him to a series of assaults that continued over the following day.
It is alleged the man suffered cuts, facial fractures, and bruising after being struck with a weapon, and he was also forced to drink a liquid that affected his consciousness.
Late on Sunday evening, the 27-year-old allegedly forced the man into a vehicle and drove him to an address in Queanbeyan, where police allege he continued the assault while recording it on his phone.

The alleged victim is said to have been brought back to Dunlop early on Monday morning.
The man later regained consciousness in parkland near Lance Hill Avenue and sought help at a nearby house, before being taken to hospital with multiple injuries. He has since been discharged.
On Monday afternoon, police located and arrested the 27-year-old at a store in Belconnen.
Police also searched his Dunlop house, where officers seized several items that are believed to be linked to the alleged kidnapping.
