DIMAPUR, OCT 16 (NPN): The State Crime Police Station (SCPS), Nagaland, has registered FIR over allegations that a forest official from the Wildlife Division, Dimapur, and others demanded Rs. 1 lakh from Vezhoto Hesuh for his release from detention.
According to a press release issued by PRO Police Headquarters, preliminary enquiry was conducted by Dimapur Police following a written complaint alleging that no written notice, receipt, challan or other lawful document was provided to justify the demand.
During the enquiry, statements were recorded and an audio recording was recovered.
Subsequently, a case was registered at SCPS under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Further investigation, including forensic examination of the audio recording, has been sought to establish the facts. The police stated that the allegations remain subject to investigation.
It may be recalled that the Centre Chakhesang Youth Organisation (CCYO) and the department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (EF&CC) have agreed to settle the case involving Vezhoto Hesuh amicably outside the court following a meeting in Kohima on October 14.
