The latest ready-to-wear runways have wrapped in Europe, with the beauty trends signalling a move away from the barely there “clean beauty” of the past couple of seasons. Maximalism is back!
In Milan, it was all about the redefined smoky eye at Gucci: all black and smudged and “slept in”. At Prada, hair stylist Guido Palau’s signature backcombing gone overboard was on show, creating wild volume and texture. On a more wearable front, Max Mara featured perfectly placed warm blush all over cheeks, creating the perfect summer glow.
Across the pond at Marc Jacobs in New York, bright pops of eyeliner were a standout in navy blue and emerald green, highlighted by the backdrop of a nearly nude face.
Meanwhile in Paris, at the Dior show, make-up guru Peter Philips used silver around the eyes that was sometimes so subtle it was only visible when the models blinked. At Dries Van Noten, top lips were painted dark red, while the lower lips were finished in pink. It’s a playful look I am going to try.
