Last weekend was Homecoming in East Lansing. This weekend is a homecoming of sorts for our Head Coach Pat Fitzgerald as well as for Northwestern’s QB Aiden Chiles. It’s a game that has big implications for the trajectory of both schools’ seasons. For MSU, any remaining hope of a bowl game probably goes out the window if we can’t get a win in this one.

Michigan State Vs. Northwestern

Series History: Michigan State leads the head-to-head by an official count of 40-20 and have won three straight in the series. The two teams have not played since 2021 (how does that happen against a conference opponent?), a 38-21 victory for MSU in Evanston.

Prediction: Last week, I predicted a 20-19 win over Illinois. I got the margin correct, just in the wrong direction, and I was way off on the total points. I’m not going to lie, our injury report scares me. This game comes down to one intangible: can the MSU Spartans, the ones not on the injury report, dig deep in their souls and “Win one for the Fitzer” (trademark pending)? You know this one has to mean more to our coach. I have seen the way he can get this team fired up, so I believe he is going to draw out everyone’s A-game tomorrow. It’s just a matter of if that A-game is good enough. Our A may be another team’s B or C at this point. But I am going with faith. Give me MSU 29-22.
For last week, we don’t have a winner. The predictions were either a close MSU win or a blowout Illinois win. Maybe I can say Icd8u2 was closest with his 24-21 MSU call. But really, I want to give recognition to last week’s worst prediction. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you:
