White House correspondent Andrew Feinberg has hit back after Donald Trump branded him a “sick person” during a heated exchange at the White House.
Feinberg, who reports for The Independent, responded on X after Trump appeared to take aim at him during a question-and-answer session on Tuesday.
“Mr. Vice President, if you’re going to insult me at least have the guts to tag my account,” Feinberg wrote, addressing JD Vance after the vice president shared a clip of Feinberg and Trump's exchange, writing that the president had "eviscerate[d] imbecile 'journalist' Andrew Feinberg for misbehaving in the Oval Office."
The confrontation came towards the end of a lengthy press appearance, as Trump fielded questions from reporters on a range of domestic and international issues.
“What's wrong with you? Are you a sick person?” Trump said, apparently directing the remark at Feinberg. The president then doubled down, adding: “I think I actually think there's something wrong with you.”

Earlier on in the Oval Office exchange, Trump had snapped at the reporter, "Hey! I don't know who the hell you are but you better be careful."
Feinberg later claimed on X, that he "had told him exactly who I was not five minutes before this exchange.”
The exchange followed a White House event announcing a new fraud whistleblower incentive program, which would offer financial rewards to people who provide information leading to the recovery of taxpayer money.
Trump has repeatedly clashed with journalists during his presidency, at times resorting to personal attacks when challenged over his policies or public statements.
Feinberg, who has worked as The Independent's White House correspondent since 2022 and has previously worked for Newsweek, declined to comment Tuesday when reached by Newsweek.
