Yohanna Akol Ngor, a representative of the Abyei administration, blames the Sudanese military for the bloodbath. A Sudanese army source admits that drones were used but claims the target was tankers carrying fuel for the RSF, the paramilitary group fighting the army in Sudan.
"We are not targeting civilians," the source says, claiming that the victims are fuel smugglers and RSF members.
The civil war between the RSF and the Sudanese army has claimed more than 200,000 lives since it broke out in the spring of 2023.
