Here’s a fun stat for you all this morning.
Entering their bye week, the Chargers are tied for third in the NFL with 10 takeaways recorded by their defense. That’s behind only the Packers and Seahawks who are also tied with 11 on the year. The Broncos, Vikings, Steelers, and Raiders are the teams tied with the Chargers.
Something you’ll most certainly notice here is that the Chargers are not like the others in this group. They’re winless, of course, and the only other winless team in the league (Dolphins) is way down near the bottom of the league. The teams surrounding the Chargers are 5-0, 4-3, and 3-3.
If there’s anything to show just how lopsided the results have been for the Chargers defense compared to their offense, this is it. The numbers, for the most part, show that the Bolts should be at least 3-3 given this loose correlation.
How incredibly frustrating. But good job Chris O’Leary!
