Shinhan Bank signed a business agreement with the Seoul Foreigner Resident Center on Oct. 13 at its Daerim-dong branch in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, for the stable settlement and capacity building of foreign residents.
This agreement was arranged to help foreign residents learn financial knowledge necessary for daily life and use financial services more conveniently. The Seoul Foreigner Resident Center is an institution that has been supporting the settlement of foreigners by providing various free services such as multilingual counseling, professional legal and labor counseling, and Korean language education.
Both institutions will link Shinhan Bank's financial infrastructure with the center's community network to operate financial education programs for foreigners and provide facility support. In particular, they plan to utilize the foreigner communication space 'SOL Global Lounge Daerim-dong', which opened at the Daerim-dong branch on October 12, as an educational base.
Shinhan Bank CEO Jung Sang-hyuk emphasized the expansion of customized financial education and multilingual services, saying, "I hope this agreement will help foreign residents understand the Korean financial environment and settle stably."
The expansion of the business network to increase financial accessibility will also be carried out in parallel. Shinhan Bank is currently operating foreigner-centric branches in Ansan, Gimhae, and Doksan-dong, and is conducting Sunday operations in major regions such as Busan, Daegu, and Gwangju. Starting on Oct. 18, it plans to begin Sunday operations at the Daerim-dong branch, a densely populated area of Chinese compatriots, to improve convenience for customers who have difficulty visiting on weekdays.
