Residents and visitors are being invited to discover the historic streets of Cuevas del Almanzora through a camera lens next month. The “Cuevas con mirada” photography walk will explore some of the town’s architecture and heritage, encouraging participants to notice the small details that can easily be missed during an everyday walk.
Photography walk starts at historic castle
Residents and visitors are being invited to see Cuevas del Almanzora from a different angle next month by taking part in a photography walk through the historic town centre.
“Cuevas con mirada” will take place on Saturday, November 7, starting at 11:00 AM from the Marques de los Velez Castle.
Participants can bring a camera or simply use their mobile phone as they explore the old streets and look for architectural features and small details that can easily go unnoticed during an everyday walk through town.
No specialist photography equipment is needed, making the activity accessible to anyone interested in discovering more about the town and its heritage.
Route explores architecture and mining heritage
The route will include stops around the Iglesia de la Encarnacion, the castle, historic mansion facades and the town’s old public wash houses.
A photographer specialising in heritage will help participants spot features including traditional ironwork, decorative tiles, coats of arms and signs of the architecture linked to Cuevas del Almanzora’s mining past.
The focus will be on looking more closely at familiar buildings and streets and discovering architectural details that reveal different parts of the town’s history.
Best photographs will feature in digital exhibition
The event forms part of the European Heritage Days programme, which this year is encouraging people across Andalucia to take a fresh look at their local history and architecture.
Organisers say the best photographs taken during the walk will be included in a digital exhibition at the end of the activity.
The exhibition will give participants an opportunity to share their different perspectives of Cuevas del Almanzora and the historic details discovered during the route.
