FOXBOROUGH, Mass — During the Patriots' dominant win over the Las Vegas Raiders, New England was dealt another major injury scare as running back TreVeyon Henderson went down with an ankle injury.
And when the injury first happened, Henderson recalled what he felt right on the field.
"Honestly, once that happened, I couldn't put any pressure on my right side," he told reporters on Friday. "And so I tried to get back out there, but it just wasn't where it needed to be."
After the game, it was reported that Henderson suffered a high ankle sprain.
"That's what the MRI showed," Henderson said. "That's what they diagnosed."
So, it came as a major surprise when the running back took the field on Wednesday, being listed as a limited participant in practice for three straight days.
"Honestly, I was surprised. I felt a little bit different than what they diagnosed it as and what the MRI showed," Henderson said. "I'm hoping that I'm able to be out there with the guys and try to help this team continue."
Henderson remains optimistic about his chances of returning, though the final decision is not entirely up to him.
"I feel pretty good. I think I'm getting better," he said. "We'll see how things continue to go and the decision that we all end up making.
Henderson is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the New York Jets.
