Fatai Okoya, who identifies himself as the first child of Nigerian billionaire businessman Razaq Okoya, has appealed to his father for forgiveness after about 30 years of estrangement, attributing their rift to a money dispute and his decision to marry a woman his father reportedly disapproved of.
Fatai, 66, made the appeal during a TikTok Live session with blogger Yeye Kudi Court Room, where he recounted his efforts ato reconcile with the Eleganza Group founder and explained why he wanted to rebuild their relationship.
He said the disagreement began when he was younger and took a small amount of money from his father’s company, insisting that the sum was not substantial.
According to Fatai, the money was not even enough to buy a car, adding that he believed the matter was something his father could forgive.
He also identified his decision to marry a woman his father did not approve of as another factor that contributed to their estrangement.
Fatai explained that he was young and in love at the time, adding that he had since made several attempts to resolve the disagreement and reconnect with his father.
“I have tried to make peace for 40 years,” he said, appealing for an opportunity to meet the businessman.
Fatai also recounted attending his father’s 86th birthday celebration, where he alleged that he was initially welcomed but later prevented from seeing the industrialist.
According to him, when he approached his father, Shade Okoya, the businessman’s wife, allegedly intervened and told him he could not see her husband.
Fatai claimed that his father saw him but did not say anything before he was sent away.
He said he had hoped to spend some time with his father rather than seek financial assistance.

He further alleged that he had tried reaching his father through friends and other intermediaries but had struggled to gain access to him. Fatai claimed that people around the businessman were reluctant to challenge him or intervene in the matter.
During the live session, a man identified as Razaq Okoya’s brother also commented on the dispute, saying Shade should not have prevented Fatai from seeing his father and that the situation could have been handled differently.
Fatai’s daughter, identified as Zee during the session, also joined the conversation. She said she had no relationship with her grandfather and alleged that someone had repeatedly blocked the family’s attempts to reach him.
Zee said she wanted to help her father reconcile with his own father because she knew he missed him after years of separation.
The host appealed to people who know the businessman to help facilitate a reunion, specifically calling on Baba Ijebu, a friend of Razaq Okoya, to speak with him about the matter.
Fatai renewed his apology during the session and asked for an opportunity to see his father. He said they were close while he was growing up and that he was the only child his mother had with the businessman.
The appeal followed an open apology in which Fatai reportedly asked his father to forgive him and give their relationship another chance.
