More than 5,300 citizens of Tajikistan have been recruited by Russia to fight in its war against Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian state project “I Want to Live.” As of October 1, 2026, the project had recorded 20,437 people from five Central Asian countries who had joined Russia’s armed forces.
