OnePlus is putting a fan inside a phone. The company has confirmed that the OnePlus Ace 7 Pro and Ace 7 launch in China on October 29 at 7 PM local time, which is 4:00 PM in Pakistan.
OnePlus calls the Ace 7 Pro its “most powerful Ace ever” and the first OnePlus phone with an active cooling fan.
What OnePlus has confirmed
The Ace 7 Pro runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a 3 nm chip with an Adreno 840 GPU. The fan is the headline feature, with two air paths: one cools the chip, and the other cools the back panel.
The company says the design lowers temperature by up to 10°C in long gaming sessions. The air intake sits away from where fingers rest, and hot air leaves through the top of the phone.
OnePlus also claims maximum frame rates at maximum graphics in all games. In one example, it says the Ace 7 Pro beats rival phones with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 in Delta Force at 185 fps.
These are company claims, not independent tests. Earlier leaker posts described the rival in that test only as an unnamed 2nm flagship, which hit 165 fps, so the exact comparison phone is unclear.
What is still a leak?
OnePlus has not confirmed the rest of the specifications.
| Detail | Status |
|---|---|
| Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Adreno 840, two-path fan | Confirmed by OnePlus |
| 6.78-inch 1.5K OLED flat display, 185 Hz | Leaked |
| 200MP Samsung HP5 main camera | Leaked |
| 50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto (Pro) | Leaked |
| About a 9,000 mAh battery | Leaked |
| 120W wired charging | Leaked |
| Ace 7 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series variant | Leaked |
Leaks also say the main camera will use OPPO’s flagship camera processing. Pricing has not been announced. Whether the standard Ace 7 gets a fan is also unclear. There is no certainty yet that it will have the cooling fan found on the Pro.
Why a fan matters
Most phones slow down in long gaming sessions as the chip heats up. This is called thermal throttling, where the processor cuts speed to protect itself. Vapour chambers and heat spreaders delay the effect. A fan pushes heat out of the body, which is a more direct fix.
The trade-off is physical. A fan needs openings, which raises questions about dust, water resistance, noise and long-term durability. OnePlus has said none of this so far.
Editorial view
A cooling fan is a clear selling point, but the evidence offered so far is thin. OnePlus’s Delta Force result is a single game, and “max frame rates in all games” is a marketing line, not a measurement.
If the claims hold, the Ace 7 Pro could set a template for mid-priced performance phones. If the fan proves noisy or fragile, it will stay a niche feature. Price will decide how many people ever find out.
