The Dallas Cowboys dropped a 23-13 road game to the Green Bay Packers which led to coach Brian Schottenheimer talking about what is “killing” his team afterward. Cameras showed Dak Prescott’s team walking to the locker room in stunned silence after their dud on prime time TV.
Afterward, Prescott spoke candidly about the defense’s performance in a game that wasn’t what fans hoped it would be at Lambeau Field, in comments to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News.
“I mean defense to me played a good enough game for us to go out there and win this and we just didn’t hold our own on offense,” Prescott, who threw two interceptions, said.

There was plenty of blame to go around after the Cowboys’ loss, starting with Prescott, whose team was hamstrung with his two turnovers and couldn’t get the ball in the end zone when it was needed. Defensive tackle Kenny Clark had a big game on defense, attempting to hold down the fort, but the Cowboys had a hard time covering Matthew Golden, Pierre Strong Jr. and Christian Watson in the receiving game.
At 2-4 heading into October 26’s game at Philadelphia, the Cowboys are far from out of the race for the NFC East Division crown. Their struggles against Love and Golden showed that the secondary needs help, something that an improved pass rush can provide.
Prescott hasn’t led the Cowboys to the kind of performances fans expect, but he’s battling and it’s a long season. Week 7 against Philadelphia will tell fans more about where the Cowboys’ hopes are, but for now, it’s time to learn and recover from another rough outing against a solid NFC team.
