Chilanga Acting District Commissioner Maureen Chilende has urged schools to embrace technology for the development of digital skills for learners.
Speaking when she officiated at the Great Scholars Academy Private School’s Ninth Graduation Ceremony, Ms Chilende said the world of technology is rapidly changing, hence schools must evolve to acquire new knowledge and skills in technology and science.
Ms Chilende commended Great Scholars Academy for establishing a computer laboratory saying it will enable learners to acquire digital skills.
She encouraged learners to use technology innovatively and to carry out problem-solving research for the betterment of the country.
“We are living in a world where digital skills are increasingly important in almost every profession. Our learners must be prepared to use technology responsibly and productively,” Ms Chilende said.
Ms Chilende noted that the Great Scholars Academy Private school is an example of how the Government’s vision of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in the education sector can be reflected.
She added that private schools supplement the government’s efforts in the education sector by expanding access and creating opportunities for children.
