Meditech’s biggest customer is one of the largest health systems in the country. Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare is partway through a multiyear move of its roughly 190 hospitals to Meditech’s cloud-based Expanse platform.
Past HCA, the vendor’s largest customers are regional systems, many with a handful of hospitals. Some other large systems, including St. Louis-based Ascension, Brentwood, Tenn.-based Lifepoint Health and Louisville, Ky.-based ScionHealth, run Meditech alongside other EHR vendors rather than as a single systemwide platform.
Here are 10 of the largest health systems on Meditech:
1. HCA Healthcare (Nashville, Tenn.): HCA had 72 hospitals across the U.S. and U.K. live on Expanse after 34 hospitals in its Capital and North Florida divisions completed implementation in August. Another wave was scheduled for October.
2. Valley Health System (Paramus, N.J.): Valley selected Expanse in 2023, and its 370-bed “smart hospital” in Paramus runs on the platform.
3. Willis-Knighton Health (Shreveport, La.): The four-hospital system brought Expanse live across 132 clinics in 2025, replacing three separate EHRs.
4. DCH Health System (Tuscaloosa, Ala.): DCH was an early pilot site for a clinical search and summarization tool Meditech built with Google Health inside Expanse.
5. St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System (Savannah, Ga.): The system brought Expanse to 100 primary care and specialty physicians and began implementing it at its cancer center and infusion clinics.
6. Berkshire Health Systems (Pittsfield, Mass.): Berkshire committed $35 million over three years to move its hospital, physician offices and cancer center onto a single Meditech EHR.
7. Frederick (Md.) Health: Frederick was among the first organizations to go live with Meditech’s Expanse Genomics.
8. St. Bernards Healthcare (Jonesboro, Ark.): St. Bernards moved its four-hospital network onto Expanse, replacing its Meditech acute EHR and three separate ambulatory systems.
9. Phoebe Putney Health System (Albany, Ga.): Phoebe has run Expanse for more than a decade, according to the system.
10. Emanate Health (Covina, Calif.): The three-hospital system, with more than 600 beds, worked with Meditech to build contact tracing dashboards in Expanse during the COVID-19 pandemic.
