Meanwhile, the commission has commenced the distribution of the voter cards registered in 2025.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Mrs Pauline Onyeka, disclosed this to journalists in Abakaliki, the state capital, at the weekend.
She said the distribution, which commenced on the 9th of this month, will last for one week.
“We have started distribution of voter cards that were registered in 2025. The distribution will last for one week till the 15th of this week. It lasts between the hours of 8am and 4pm every day at Registration Area levels.
“After that, on the 16th, the distribution will be done at the local government level. We are equally doing display of claims and objections, after which it will be final display of the voter register,” she stated.
She opined that there would be no collection by proxy in the distribution and warned Electoral Officers against it.
She enjoined voters to collect their cards to vote for the candidates of their choices, describing the cards as their strength.
