The Auburn Tigers will face an uphill battle on Saturday when they travel to play the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs. Auburn is coming off a bye week, and Georgia had an emotional 20-17 road victory over No. 7 Alabama in Week 6.
The Tigers are a heavy underdog against the Bulldogs. According to the ESPN Matchup Predictor, Auburn has a 9.7% chance of winning against Georgia.
Another element of this game is the rivalry. Auburn versus Georgia is the oldest rivalry in the South with 130 total meetings. Georgia leads the series all-time 66-56-8 and has won nine straight meetings. Auburn last defeated Georgia 40-17 during the 2017 regular season. The winning streak started for the Bulldogs that same season in the SEC Championship when they won 28-7.
A lot will have to go right for Auburn to pull off the upset on Saturday. Being careful with the football has to be at the top of the list. Auburn quarterback Byrum Brown has turned the football over with seven interceptions this season. For context, he threw seven interceptions for the entire 2025 season with South Florida.
The Tigers will also need to slow down Georgia's run game. The Bulldogs rank No. 4 in the SEC, averaging 211.8 yards per game on the ground. Against Alabama, Georgia was without Nate Frazier but still found success with Dwight Phillips Jr. Quarterback Gunner Stockton is also a threat to put up big numbers on the ground.
Alex Golesh and his staff had a chance to hit a reset with the week off. The Tigers enter the game with a 3-2 record, and the schedule will not get any easier after Georgia. Saturday's game is scheduled to kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast by ESPN.
