Blood stains of the deceased at scene
ONE PERSON has been killed and a police officer injured following a shooting incident at Manso-Nsiana in the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred when a mob from the community allegedly attacked a police team and demanded the release of a suspect who had been arrested for narcotics-related offence.
The confrontation reportedly led to the shooting, leaving one person dead and a police officer injured.
The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has since restored calm in the community, while security has been intensified to prevent further disturbances.
According to a press release issued by the Police and posted on their official Facebook page, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
The injured police officer, meanwhile, is receiving medical attention.
The statement added that the Ashanti South Regional Police Commander and a team of officers visited the scene following the incident and engaged community leaders as part of efforts to restore calm.
The Police have intensified security in the area as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
