Caleb Williams has been out of action since suffering a hamstring injury in the Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. On Thursday, he was a full participant in practice. However, the team has not yet confirmed whether he will return for the upcoming game against the Atlanta Falcons and has listed him as questionable.
On Friday, the Bears quarterback reposted a video edit on his TikTok account. The clip shows Williams being carted off the field after the injury, paired with background audio of analysts mocking his situation. The video then cuts to several highlights of Caleb Williams’ best moments with the Bears.
However, fans on social media weren’t impressed and used the opportunity to troll the quarterback.
“Most performative player in the NFL, by a lot too,” one fan commented
“Hopefully he doesn’t stub his toe in his return,” another fan said
Here are a few other reactions:
The Bears drafted Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick in 2024. He had a disappointing rookie season under Matt Eberflus. The quarterback threw for 3,541 yards and 20 TDs, but his team finished 5-12.
Last year, the Bears hired Ben Johnson after firing Eberflus. Under him, Williams developed into a reliable starting quarterback. He threw for 3,942 yards and 27 TDs, plus three rushing TDs. The Bears won the NFC North but lost to the Rams in a divisional-round showdown.
Stephen A. Smith calls out Caleb Williams for snapping at reporters over the media coverage of his injury
During Thursday’s post-practice presser, Caleb Williams took a shot at the media, saying reports about the severity of his injury were false.
On Friday’s episode of ESPN’s ‘First Take,’ Stephen A. Smith called out the Bears quarterback for not revealing details about his injury.
“If you don’t want to answer the question, that’s fine,” Smith said. “My issue is, why are you having an attitude with the reporter for asking? 61,500 people fill Soldier Field. They support the Chicago Bears, they want to see Caleb Williams play. They want to know every detail they can possibly muster about why he is hurt. That doesn’t mean they have a right to know.
“But the reporter has a right to ask. … You’re dismissing grown men that’s asking you a question.”
The Bears vs. Falcons game is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
