PUTRAJAYA: MyDigital ID is not powered by third-party blockchain technology, contrary to a recent report, according to the company that operates the digital identity platform.
"My Digital ID Sdn Bhd is a company owned by the Minister of Finance Incorporated (Mof Inc) and falls under the Prime Minister’s Department, with oversight by the National Security Council and National Cyber Security Agency," it said in a statement.
The firm said MyDigital ID had registered 83% of Malaysia’s digitally active population, connecting over 14 million Malaysians to more than 1,000 services across 204 applications.
It maintained that MyDigital ID was a secure and trusted digital identity platform designed to strengthen and simplify online identity verification, without replacing the MyKad system.
"It serves as a single sign-on solution for digital services, offering greater security and accessibility for Malaysians in accessing online services and carrying out transactions.
"MyDigital ID does not store any personal data, nor does it replace the MyKad for identification purposes," it added.
