Lamar Jackson suffered an ankle injury in Week 4, and the two-time NFL MVP left the game in a walking boot. While this was originally reported to be a minor injury, the two-time MVP missed Weeks 5 and 6 and is in danger of missing Week 7 as well. Originally entering the league as a first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Louisville product started his rookie season on the bench before he took over for an injured Joe Flacco. After guiding his team to the playoffs and showing some promise as a rookie, Jackson stepped up and established himself as one of the game’s elite quarterbacks.
Since 2019, Lamar Jackson has made it to four Pro Bowls, won two MVP’s, and earned First-Team All-Pro honors three times while consistently guiding Baltimore to winning seasons. While injuries have been an issue throughout his career, he’s still unstoppable when on the field. So far this season, the quarterback has completed 70.8% of his passes for 967 yards, six touchdowns, and just one interception, but he has a shot of returning to the field in Week 7. While nothing is certain, the team’s official injury report notes he was a limited participant on Wednesday, which bodes well for Sunday’s contest.
Lamar Jackson Injury Update: Ravens QB Still Not Practicing
The Last Word
A player like Lamar Jackson does not need a full practice to prepare for a game, so having him on the field is an encouraging sign. Baltimore has one of the league’s most talented rosters, but no team can compete without an elite quarterback under center.
If Lamar Jackson isn’t ready to go for Week 6, Baltimore will turn the ball over to longtime backup Tyler Huntley. Huntley struggled in relief of Jackson last week, completing 19 of his 31 attempts for 165 yards and one touchdown in the close loss to the Cleveland Browns. Throughout the course of his career, the veteran has gone 8-10 while completing 66.8% of his passes for 3,641 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He’s no Lamar Jackson, but he’s more than capable of keeping the offense on schedule for a few weeks.
