Mina Kimes of ESPN has been speaking about the Seattle Seahawks’ difficult start to the 2026/27 season.
The Seahawks went 14-3 in the regular season last year before going on to win the Super Bowl.
But ahead of Week 7 getting underway, they have already suffered as many losses as they did in the entirety of the previous campaign (3-3).
Kenneth Walker III leaving for the Kansas City Chiefs has had some impact, but Kimes believes the ‘single biggest reason’ is ‘that Sam Darnold has been turning the football over’.
Appearing on First Take, she was asked: “Is the loss of Kenneth Walker the biggest reason for Seattle’s slow start so far this season?”
Kimes responded by suggesting that though Walker’s exit is connected to the poor form, Darnold turning over the football is the biggest reason.
She stated: “Well, the biggest reason is that Sam Darnold has been turning the football over. That is the single biggest reason why they’re losing these games.
“But it is absolutely connected to the absence of Kenneth Walker in the way that football is often complementary, right. I would say letting him walk, Walker, looks like a mistake.”
Walker is now set to face off with his former team for the first time this weekend when the Kansas City Chiefs travel to Lumen Field.
The Chiefs are 5-0 ahead of the game getting underway, while K9 is leading the league in rushing yards (665).
