Barcelona winger Raphinha has revealed that he was mentally prepared to leave the club before Hansi Flick’s arrival changed his outlook and convinced him to stay.
The Brazilian winger explained that he had already made the decision to leave Barcelona when Flick arrived and assured him that he was an important part of his plans.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano on C on Friday, Raphinha said, “I knew I was leaving Barça. I had already made that decision mentally… then Flick arrived,” Raphinha said
According to the winger, Flick’s words of confidence came at a crucial moment in his career, giving him renewed belief in his role and future at the Catalan club.
“Hansi told me he trusted me and that I was going to be important. In a moment like that, just a few words can change you,” he added.
Flick’s arrival proved to be a turning point for Raphinha, whose renewed confidence helped him establish himself as a key figure in Barcelona’s team.
The revelation highlights the importance of a manager’s trust in a player’s development, with Flick’s belief in Raphinha playing a significant role in changing the Brazilian’s decision about his future.
What once appeared to be the end of Raphinha’s Barcelona journey instead became a new chapter in his career under the German coach.
