BLOOMINGTON — Indiana quarterback Josh Hoover was wincing in pain after returning from an apparent arm injury and trying to pass against Ohio State on Saturday.
Hoover previously scrambled for an 8-yard gain but appeared to land on his right elbow. He laid on the turf while trying to shake out his throwing arm, and was attended to by medical staff. IU chose not to take a timeout, causing him to miss a play.
As backup Grant Wilson came in to hand off to Lee Beebe Jr., Hoover was seen throwing along the sideline and zipping short throws. He showed he was ready to go in and missed just the one play.
Hoover then completed a 16-yard pass to Tyler Morris. Then on third-and-6, he threw a ball to the empty sideline as receiver Nick Marsh ran a seam route. It caused IU to settle for a 55-yard field goal attempt that Nico Radicic missed short.

The Hoosiers entered the fourth quarter trailing 13-7.
Hoover was sitting alongside the IU offense along the sideline with the defense on the field. He then got up and was throwing along the sideline with Wilson. Hoover was 12 for 24 for 170 yards and had 3 yards on as many rushes (an 11-yard loss for a sack included) entering the fourth quarter.
