MACHANG: Police are completing their investigation into an incident involving Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 after the Attorney-General's Chambers (A-GC) returned the investigation papers.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the A-GC requested several improvements to the investigation papers before deciding on the next course of action.
He said although the papers were initially submitted to the A-GC within a week, prosecution authorities required further clarification and additional investigative work.
"The police are still completing the investigation. The A-GC has stated that several improvements need to be made to the investigation papers.
"The investigation papers contain statements recorded from witnesses and all information gathered during the investigation before being submitted to the A-GC.
"The A-GC must be fully satisfied with the findings before making a decision. Usually, if it is not satisfied, it will return the investigation papers to the police for further action," he said.
He was speaking to reporters after the Home Ministry's Kampung Angkat Madani and Sekolah Angkat Madani programmes at Sekolah Kebangsaan Jambu Lawar here today.
Saifuddin added that police have been instructed to complete the investigation in accordance with the A-GC's requirements.
The A-GC returned the investigation paper to the police on Oct 8.
Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar previously confirmed the paper was returned to enable further investigation into the incident involving the MCBA director-general.
