Fans of Guillermo del Toro — or art about opposing fascism — behold: 2006’s Pan’s Labyrinth, now celebrating its 20th anniversary, is receiving a collector’s edition 4K UHD + Blu-ray Steelbook release, one packed with special features. The Amazon release even includes exclusive art featuring the Pale Man, played by del Toro favorite Doug Jones.
Also starring Ariadna Gil, Ivana Baquero, Maribel Verdu, Sergei Lopez, Pan’s Labyrinth (according to the official plot description) “follows young Ofelia as she escapes fascist Spain into a haunting fantasy world, where a mysterious faun sets her on a perilous quest that blurs the line between innocence and war.”
The special features include never-before-seen special features, including a deep dive into the film’s prosthetic makeup and visual effects and an exploration of the lullaby theme which haunts the story. You can also enjoy the original 2007 director’s commentary (director’s commentaries! remember them?).
