The incident gained widespread attention after social media activists shared social media post with CCTV footage from the location. The footage appears to show white van-like vehicle parked on a residential street, with several people gathered nearby and a body lying on the ground. The available footage primarily captures the aftermath of the incident rather than clearly showing the collision itself.
Several social media accounts claimed that Wasim had travelled to Multan to learn electrical wiring and was working at a house when a dispute allegedly arose over delays in completing the work.
According to these accounts, the teenager was allegedly assaulted and attempted to flee before being chased by a vehicle and run over. Some reports further claim that local residents detained the suspect and handed him over to police.
However, these allegations have not yet been independently verified or confirmed in the police statement. Investigators are expected to establish the sequence of events and determine the circumstances that led to the teenager’s death.
The incident prompted renewed concern over the safety of young workers employed in informal construction and electrical work. Reports that Wasim was only 15 have also drawn attention to the vulnerability of minors who leave their hometowns to acquire skills or earn a livelihood.
While the police confirmed the arrest and registration of a case, the alleged motive and details of the reported confrontation remain under investigation. Further findings from investigators, along with forensic evidence and witness statements, will be crucial in determining responsibility.
The case remains under investigation, and the allegations surrounding the events leading to Wasim Abbas’s death have yet to be fully established by authorities.
