He'll continue hosting the show part-time and executive producing through the next presidential election.
The Daily Show and Jon Stewart are staying together for a couple more years.
Stewart has signed a two-year deal to continue as the once-a-week host of Comedy Central‘s late night show through 2028. He also remains an executive producer of the show every day of the week.
“Jon Stewart is a generational talent, and The Daily Show continues to be one of the most influential franchises on television and a cornerstone of Comedy Central,” said George Cheeks, co-chair and chief content officer of Skydance TV. “We are excited to continue our partnership with Jon and his award-winning news team.”
Stewart most recently signed a one-year deal to continue his duties on The Daily Show through 2026. With the end of that agreement approaching, he re-upped. The two-year deal, notably, extends Stewart’s run on the show through the 2028 presidential election cycle.
Stewart rejoined The Daily Show in 2024, anchoring the show once a week (usually on Mondays) and serving as an executive producer. He also hosts the related Weekly Show podcast. Daily Show correspondents Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta and Desi Lydic rotate hosting the Tuesday-Thursday shows; Troy Iwata and Grace Kuhlenschmidt are also correspondents.
The long-time host’s return has helped The Daily Show’s ratings improve. The show’s third quarter audience of a little more than 1 million viewers was its largest for that quarter since 2018.
Jen Flanz is the showrunner for The Daily Show. She executive produces with Stewart and his long-time manager, James “Baby Doll” Dixon.
